ABOUT THE MAKER
Lucy is a ceramicist working out of her studio in Tāmaki Makaurau, New Zealand. Her pieces are all handbuilt, unique and unrepeatable. She begins with rolling thin sheets of hand-stained stoneware clay into a slab, then inlays, builds each piece, then whittles to reveal hidden layers. 17th-century Agateware and Nerokomi, the forms of Brutalist architecture and mid-century design heavily influence her process. Lucy studied Sculpture at Elam School of Fine Arts, and started working with clay as a means to engage fluidly between design and art.
