ABOUT THE MAKER 

Marian Fox is a ceramic artist born in Melbourne, currently living in Ballarat. She creates bold, large-scale hand-built vessels. Marian has been working with clay for several years. Still, it was a visual arts degree at Federation University that set Marian on the path of investigating form, texture, colour and negative space.
Marian marries her passion for ceramics with this interest in form, creating monumental, uncomplicated, and often irregular vessels. Marians experiments with surface treatment, drawing on her visual arts degree. Marian aims to highlight and exaggerate the vessel size and contours with colour, mark-making and pattern.

Marian is influenced by primitive art, nature, abstract expressionism and street art. Marian's surface treatment is often an intuitive response to the vessel, (despite a myriad of documented ideas), and is affected by her frame of mind and immediate interests.
